-
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign straightens your teeth without metal wires or brackets.
During the consultation process, we use 3D computer imaging technology to create a treatment plan based on your unique smile.
These clear, custom-fitted aligners will then be manufactured to fit your teeth specifically during each stage of your Invisalign treatment process.
-
How does the Invisalign process work?
As your treatment progresses, Invisalign clear plastic aligners are designed to shift your teeth in small increments. You will wear each aligner for about two weeks before replacing it with the next one in the series.
This process will continue until your teeth reach their correct prescribed positions. The duration of your Invisalign treatment is determined by your dentist based on the severity of your condition and your specific needs.
-
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
The duration of your Invisalign treatment will be determined by your dentist based on your specific needs.
Factors that may impact the duration of your treatment include the shape of your bite, misalignment of your teeth or jaw, and the amount of movement needed to remedy the problem.
-
What are Invisalign aligners made of?
Your Invisalign aligners are BPA-free. They will be constructed from USP Class VI medical-grade, high molecular weight polyurethane resins.
-
How often do I have to visit the dentist?
Invisalign aligners don't need any tightening or adjustments - you'll just replace your existing aligners with a new set every two weeks. You'll need to attend brief appointments with your dentist every 4 to 6 weeks, at which your dentist will review your progress and general oral health.
He or she will also answer your questions and adjust your treatment as needed.
-
What are the primary features of Invisalign?
Invisalign's features include:
- Removable for eating, flossing and brushing
- Smooth construction for enhanced comfort
- Do not require adjustment appointments
- A discreet, low profile appearance.
-
How much does Invisalign cost?
The cost of your Invisalign treatment will depend on its duration and the severity of your case. For example, the more serious the malocclusion, the more aligners you'll require and the more your treatment will cost.
In many cases, the cost of Invisalign is comparable to the cost of traditional orthodontic treatment (braces).
-
How will Invisalign fit my lifestyle?
You may find that Invisalign meshes very well with your day-to-day life.
Remove your aligners whenever you need to brush, floss, drink or eat. There are no dietary restrictions, and brushing and flossing is as easy as ever.
-
Are there any food or drink restrictions?
Because Invisalign aligners are removable, you can take them out to eat and not have to deal with dietary restrictions. Keep eating all the foods you love!
To prevent your clear aligners from becoming stained, we recommend taking them out whenever you sip beverages such as dark soda, wine or coffee.
-
How many sets of aligners will I need?
The severity of your misalignment will determine the answer to this question.
Only your dentist will be able to provide you an accurate estimate of how many aligners you will need, based on a thorough evaluation of your bite at your first consultation.
-
Can adults use Invisalign?
Absolutely! If you have healthy teeth and gums, you are a potential candidate for Invisalign.
More adults are deciding to receive orthodontic treatment these days, in large part because options such as Invisalign have entered the market.
-
Can teenagers use Invisalign?
Absolutely! Teens can be potential candidates for Invisalign, which has created a line of aligners to meet teenagers' unique needs.
Invisalign Teen aligners feature compliance indicators on them (small blue dots that fade away after you've worn the aligners for two full weeks) to help you remain on track with your treatment.
You'll notice they also come with eruption tabs, which provide space for second molars and prevent them from coming in crooked.
-
How often do I have to change my Invisalign aligners?
We find most patients need to change to their next set of aligners every two weeks or so. Find out from your dentist how often your aligners should be switched.
-
How do I clean my aligners?
Each time you remove your aligners, rinse them to wash away plaque and dry saliva that can lead to bad breath and dental decay.
Soak your aligners in the official Invisalign cleaning crystals, denture cleaner or Retainer Brite.
Brush and floss your teeth before putting your aligners back in. Excellent oral hygiene is essential to keeping your teeth healthy and preventing cavities and decay. Not brushing or flossing correctly may trap food debris and bacteria between your aligners and your teeth, raising your risk of bad breath and dental problems.
Clean your aligners with clear, anti-bacterial soap, which is an excellent and inexpensive way to keep your aligners fresh, clear and free from bacteria.
Brush your aligners gently to avoid scratching them, followed by rinsing off the soap. Now you're done!
-
Can I play sports with Invisalign?
If you play sports, you can remove your aligners without worrying about damaging them.
However, remember that you must wear your Invisalign aligners for a minimum of 22 hours per day, so plan your time carefully.
Invest in a sports guard to protect your teeth, as orthodontic treatment can cause them to loosen slightly as they move into their new positions. This can make them more vulnerable to damage.
-
Can I play my instrument with Invisalign?
Yes! Just remove your aligners to play your instrument, and put them back in when you're done.
-
How do I store my aligners?
Store your Invisalign aligners in the case that comes with them. You should put them here to keep them safe whenever you remove them.
